A Dialect is a variation of a language that is different from the standard varieties in terms of grammar, pronunciation, or vocabulary.
*Two types of Dialects: Regional and Social. Social dialect is based on social background and regional dialect is based on geographical area.
*Examples of Dialects include
Australian English, Chilean Spanish and Jamaican Patois.

*Points
to the fact that the delimitation between a dialect and a
full-fledged language is arbitrary and may involve social and political
interests.
